Good Health and Safety means good Business
Managing health and safety is a key aspect of looking after your business - and it has never made better business sense. Poor health and safety can lead to illness and accidents and significant costs for your business.
Health and Safety Executive figures estimate the total cost to employers in Britain of workplace injuries and work-related ill health in 2005/2006 was about £2.9 billion to £3.2 billion. Perhaps more telling is that £1.7 billion to £2 billion of that cost is believed to be as a result of work-related ill health.
In times of economic hardship safety often becomes an "unaffordable luxury" to businesses struggling with flagging sales and cash-flow problems. Never underestimate the costs of failing to manage safety well. Introducing good health and safety policies, systems and practices and embedding them in your organisation makes sound business sense. In fact, our experience shows the costs will more than pay for themselves, as well as improving your reputation with your customers, regulators and employees.
