Director

Ian is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology. He has 25 years’ experience as a Company Director, with considerable success in implementing and delivering high-level strategic management solutions.

Combining his professional engineering background with sound commercial acumen and strong programme management abilities, Ian has forged a renowned reputation for implementing a range of high-level business management services. With an inherent drive for developing innovative strategies, Ian has built the business models that have been the cornerstone of his consultancy operations. Through his natural leadership abilities Ian has implemented his vision, of marrying a sound and admirable set of ethics with a passion for people and business, to create a series of unique service offerings.

Having worked across engineering and compliance fields in the Transport, Public and Power Sectors, Ian has intimate knowledge of the makeup of a successful client solution. Ian believes that integrity and effective relations are vital components to any business success. His ability to listen, understand and address the critical issues have forged a high level of respect with Clients, Colleagues, Associates and peers.

 Achievements:

 

  • Creation, development and management of NTTX Limited (formed 2002) – an ‘award winning’ Engineering Management Consultancy, where Ian was instrumental in developing and building the consultancy streams and prodigious client base of the business up to a peak turnover of £5.5M. This included securing and retaining high-level supplier relationships and agreements with London Underground, Transport for London, Department for Transport, Network Rail, Crossrail, Rail Safety & Standards Board, G4S, Serco, Hitachi, Stagecoach, Govia, MTR, Costain, Thales, CH2M, Balfour Beatty and BAM.

  • Founder and Director of Advisory & Risk Management Solutions Limited (formed 2014) – a niche provider of Risk, Safety and Security Management services.

  • Founded, developed and devolved a number of start-up businesses, including: -

    • NuAspect Ltd – a Railway Signalling consultancy business formed in 2006 and sold to co-founding partners in 2012.

    • NTTX Solutions Ltd – a Signalling Design business formed in 2010 and sold to the co-founding partner in 2012 (now trading as XRail Solutions Ltd).

    • NTTX Select Ltd – a technology company formed in 2011, heavily involved in research & development with the intent to create an IT Business with a market leading cloud / data storage offering. Played a key role in all aspects of developing the product and IP of ‘Select’ – a cloud-based business platform developed in association with Microsoft and Dell – which was acquired in 2015 by Acuutech Ltd.

  • Instrumental in developing the business, organisational structure and delivery reputation of Metro Consulting Limited.  From its inception helped to grow the company to an £8 million turnover, generated by over 100 consultants, up to the point where he left the business following the successful sale of the company to Mouchel.

  • Growth of Kennedy & Donkin’s management consultancy portfolio in London, in tandem with a local subsidiary – KH Associates.

  • Compliance Validations, including the ‘No Deal’ Brexit contingency planning for HS1, and the management of safety aspects associated with the re-organisation of the Engineering Directorate at London Underground.

  • Organisational Change / Strategy reviews, including the London Underground devolvement of Engineering Management functions from the Chief Engineer’s Group to the Line Business Units, and re-organisation of the Public Complaints Department of Network Rail.

  • Systems Programme Management, including the requirements analysis and solution architecture for a Buildings & Civils Asset Management system (BCAM) for Network Rail, and the development and implementation of a Performance & Safety Activity Monitoring System (PSAMS) for London Underground.

  • High-level investigations, including a review on behalf of the Ministry of Defence pertaining to major contractual problems experienced with a key supplier.

  • Programme Management of computerised control systems to the Electricity Supply Industry, including £multi-million contracts with GEC and NEI.
